The Year Ahead

2021 is set to be an exciting year for DestinationCore.

We’ve got lots of client sites launching, a major upgrade to our Insights dashboard, new product features coming for DC One, DC Pro and DC Enterprise and even plans for a brand-new product which will aid collaboration across regional networks. So, we thought we’d give you a sneak peak of what to look out for from DestinationCore HQ in 2021.

New Clients Galore

It may only be February, but we’re already helping clients plan for website launches, and adding new features as far ahead as July and August. Here’s just a few to look out for as the year progresses:

Visit Harrogate

We are delighted to be working with the DMO team at Visit Harrogate on a brand-new destination website on our DC Enterprise package. The first iteration of the website will be launching on 1st April, with new features being rolled out throughout the spring and summer months. In addition to the destination site, we’ll be helping the client to create a linked Convention Bureau site to help promote Harrogate as a top attraction for business conferences.

Leisure & Retail Websites

We’re really pleased to be working with four major UK Leisure & Retail destinations. Lakeside, Metrocentre, Watford Shopping Centre and Victoria Centre are amongst some of the largest Leisure & Retail destinations in the country and between them attract over 70 million visitors annually and cover over 540,000 square meters of retail space. Each of these sites will be on our DestinationCore Pro package and will benefit from bespoke design, bringing the individual personality of these locations to life.

Metrocentre will be the first of these sites to go live in May, closely followed by Watford, Lakeside and Victoria Centre.

In addition, we’ll be welcoming Barton Square (part of The Trafford Centre in Manchester) to the DestinationCore One family, with their new site set to go live as soon as 1st March.

We’re also set to announce another exciting project with a major UK destination in the next few weeks. Watch this space!

DestinationCore Insights Version 3

Ever since we launched back in November 2018 our Insights Dashboard has been at the very heart of DestinationCore. We’ve learnt a lot in the two and a half years since then, taking on board feedback from our clients. Most of all, we’ve learnt just how much our clients appreciate and value the automated collection of reporting data, so that’s why we decided to spend the last few months making it even more powerful.

Version 3 of Insights is a major upgrade, it’s taken up several hundreds of hours of development time, but it’s been worth it to see the results. It will be rolled out to all our clients by the end of February and includes the following new features:

  • Updated engagement benchmarking – an ‘at a glance view’ of how your destination performs against your peers for user engagement
  • Best blog posts – “top performing blog posts” has been added alongside businesses, events and offers
  • Campaign by campaign email statistics – see which emails have received the highest engagement, and more importantly, why
  • Device breakdown – view a breakdown of website visitors by device type
  • By location website data – a snapshot of where your website visitors are coming from across the UK

New Product Features

We’ve got new features being added across the entire DestinationCore range. These include:

  • A tiered membership module to help DMOs manage and add value to members through website promotion
  • More flexibility and added functionality on our DestinationCore One product
  • A plus version of our popular itinerary builder and business login modules which adds extra functionality on top of what already exists
  • Even more data integrations into our Insights dashboard
DestinationCore Hub - Aiding Regional Collaboration

We like to think we have our finger on the pulse of destination marketing industry. We listen to our clients so that we understand what’s keeping them up at night, we talk to our network of industry contacts from trade bodies to technology partners. And do you know what we’ve heard? An awful lot of talk about ‘collaboration’.

That’s what led us to an idea for a brand-new product – DestinationCore Hub. It’s a ‘content hub’ which can help regional networks collaborate more effectively through a unified approach, knowledge sharing and the avoidance of duplication. It ensures efficient delivery, consistency and increased exposure for tourism related content at both a regional and local level.

DestinationCore Hub offers four main product features:

  1. A centralised location for tourism businesses to upload events, offers and news stories
  2. Automated collection of events data
  3. The opportunity for integrated ‘bookable product’
  4. Intelligent distribution and promotion of tourism product.

We’ll be announcing more details as we develop the product and get closer to launch.

The NewcastleGateshead Initiative is the DMO representing Newcastle, Gateshead and the surrounding areas. All About Ipswich

All About Ipswich is a DMO for Ipswich and the surrounding area. The website showcases events and offers, and also includes a business directory. It provides easy access to a huge range of content, with the Journey Planner and Itinerary Builder modules enriching the user experience. The Campaign Section module provides a hub for the client's numerous marketing initiatives.

As a BID in their first term The Junction BID needed to make an impact. Attracting visitors to Clapham Junction by showcasing what’s on offer and demonstrating value to the businesses they represent was essential. They chose the Offers and Events progressive web app alongside the Pro core package to encourage people who work within the BID area to spend more time at The Junction.

In Colchester

In Colchester is the consumer website for the Colchester BID. We helped them create a new consumer facing brand, and then applied that brand to the DestinationCore platform to create a stunning looking website. Launched in August 2019 the feedback for this site has been superb.
